What are the reasons for the different sizes of engine intake and exhaust valves?

The power of a gasoline engine comes from within the cylinder. The cylinder block of an internal combustion engine is a place where the internal energy of fuel is converted into kinetic energy. It is simply understood as burning fuel in the cylinder, causing the piston to move up and down. The force is transmitted to the crankshaft through the connecting rod, which is then converted into rotational motion. Through the transmission and transmission shaft, the energy is transmitted to the drive wheel to drive the vehicle forward.

Why are the engine intake and exhaust valves different in size? Due to the fact that the air intake is generally sucked in through a vacuum, and the exhaust gas is pushed out through compression, it is relatively easier to exhaust than the air intake. In order to obtain more fresh air for combustion, the intake valve needs to be larger to obtain more intake air. Letters such as SOHC and DOHC often appear on the engine casing. What exactly do these letters mean? OHV refers to the camshaft at the bottom of the top valve, i.e. the camshaft is arranged at the bottom of the cylinder and the valve is arranged at the top of the cylinder. OHC refers to the top camshaft at the top of the cylinder, known as the camshaft.

If the engine has multiple valves, it has a large amount of intake air at high rotational speeds, clean exhaust, and better engine performance (similar to cinemas, with many doorways and convenient access). However, the design of multiple valves is relatively complex, especially the drive mode of the valves, the structure of the combustion chamber, and the position of the spark plugs, which require precise layout. This requires high production process requirements, naturally high manufacturing costs, and difficult maintenance in the later stage. Therefore, the number of valves should not be excessive. An ordinary engine has four valves per cylinder.

What are the working procedures for the engine intake and exhaust valves?

The valve is an important component in the valve train of an automotive engine, which is divided into intake and exhaust valves.

It plays a very important role in engine operation. The operation of a fuel engine consists of four working processes: intake, compression, operation, and exhaust. In order for the engine to run continuously, the intake and exhaust valve manufacturers must cycle through four workflows and cycle them in a sequential and timed manner.

Both of these working processes, namely the intake and exhaust processes, rely on the engine's valve train to accurately deliver the combustible mixture (gasoline engine) or fresh air (diesel engine) in the working order of each cylinder, and emit the exhaust gas after combustion. For the other two working processes, compression and power operation, the intake and exhaust valve manufacturers must isolate the external cylinder combustion chambers and external exhaust channels to prevent gas leakage and ensure normal engine operation. The component responsible for the above work is the valve of the valve train. Just like the human respiratory organ, it is indispensable to inhale and exhale without it.
