What are the processing methods for valve key clamping slots?

In the engine valve train, the valve is an important component that is dynamic, economical, reliable, and durable. When the working environment is poor, it often fails. The fracture of the lock groove is one of its failure modes. The specific processing method of the lock clip groove is not only closely related to the size, shape, material, and assembly of the part, but also involves the specific processing method of the lock clip groove. Therefore, how to select the processing method of the lock clip groove is crucial.


There are many types of lock groove shapes, with five common ones. Due to different shapes, dimensional accuracy, shape accuracy, roughness, and materials, processing methods are also different. The processing method is as follows:

1) One time. This processing method is generally difficult to meet the drawing and usage requirements, mainly because the roughness cannot meet the drawing requirements.


2) Turn it first and then roll it. Using this process, the surface roughness is increased, and the surface hardness can be increased by 7-8 HRC, thereby greatly improving the fatigue strength and service life of the lock clip groove.


3) Grind out in one molding. This machining method can improve surface roughness, shape, and dimensional accuracy.


Single slot valves and lock clips can be driven first and then rolled. Automatic valve lock clamp manufacturers use this processing method with high efficiency and over 2000 parts per shift. However, turning tools are generally manually ground, resulting in low accuracy of the R-arc radius.

Turning the valve lock clamping groove with a turning tool is difficult to ensure the dimensional and positional accuracy of the groove shape, and it is difficult to match the calendering wheel with the turning tool. This problem can be easily solved by using a special grinding machine for machining the valve clamp groove.


The company uses diamond to trim the roller so that the axis of the grinding wheel is parallel to the axis of the roller and on the same plane. The transmission motor drives the diamond roller to rotate at a high speed and synchronously rotates the grinding wheel and the roller on their respective shafts. The utility model is installed on the housing of the automatic cross feed body of the grinding wheel carrier assembly, and the feed screw seat is installed and trimmed. It is guided by a square key, and then trimmed to compensate for the lead screw assembly, thereby achieving the goal of automatic compensation for the grinding wheel.
